Decent Snow
First decent snow of the season! We got about 8 Inches down here in Denver, not sure how much they've had up in the mountains but they expect to get up to a couple of feet so I'll be heading up there tomorrow as this storm is expected to keep going all today and tonight. Powder day tomorrow! Pics are from our apartment in Lakewood.

Slater Knocked
Stoked that Owen Wright knocked Slater out of the portugal comp yesterday. His round 3 heat against Dane should be all time. This is another year for an Aussie world champ! Pipe should be an awesome comp as usual, especially with the title looking like it will be decided there. Hopefully it's big, classic pipe this year.
-update, he actually beat dane and got all the way through to the semis but smashed his eardrum and had to pull out. It would have been good to see him take it out

Grass is always greener
I always do this, when I'm at home I wish I was waist deep in pow. When I'm in the mountains, I wish I was getting barreled. Photos like this one from Coastalwatch on my desktop certainly don't help at the moment. I'm not saying I'm not happy where I am, it'd just be perfect to find a place where you can get to both easily. (don't say NZ, its way too cold to surf and dont say Hawaii cause that big mountain doesn't get enough snow. If only Indo had some good snow, then I'd be set). I'm spoiled I know but at least it will keep me hunting for either one for a long time to come.

Silverton
I was checking out Snowboard Mag's site today and came across these pictures of a few guys getting Alaska style pow in october, only hours from here! I'm pretty rattled to say the least, I need an old Colorado mountain dog to be showing me these spots. I think it might be time to purchase some snow shoes and start a hikin'

Snow on the way!
Right now there are 2 resorts open in the Rockies, Loveland, and A-Basin. Pretty marginal conditions at both resorts but it's the earliest they have ever been open so it's good to have any cover to slide on. According to www.snow-forecast.com we have about 2 and half feet of snow on the way this week to add to the couple of inches we got last night. There's snow on the front range down here in Denver this morning which is always a welcome sight. The forecasts have been changing a bit but it looks like we should see the first solid dump which should open up some nice slackcountry terrain up on Loveland pass, with a real easy hike and hitch back up. Hopefully it will also open some more of the mountain up at A-Basin which has only 2 short runs open at the moment. Fingers are firmly crossed.
Snow Levels
A-Basin: 18 inches
Loveland: 16 inches
